- Tverskaya Street in Moscow has been compared to famous luxury shopping districts including New York City’s Fifth Avenue, London’s Oxford Street, and the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
- On a recent trip to Russia, I walked the mile-long Tverskaya Street, which leads to Red Square, and it fell totally short of my expectations.
- I’d been expecting a glamorous, upscale shopping street, but instead of luxury boutiques, I saw mostly fast-fashion stores, empty storefronts, and souvenir shops.
