Last summer, there were 94.5 million camper households throughout North America and 10.1 million of those households camped for the first time, according to Kampgrounds of America (KOA) data. KOA also notes that most campers intend to increase their trips this year. That means federal campsites found on Recreation.gov will likely book up fast for peak summer weekends and holidays, and many could be left scrambling to find camping reservations.
