Virgin Australia has been named third in AirlineRatings.com’s annual World’s Safest Airlines for 2024 jumping up from 10th last year.
In making its evaluation, AirlineRatings.com takes into account a comprehensive range of factors that include serious incidents, recent fatal accidents, audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives, expert pilot training assessment and fleet age.
AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas acknowledged that Virgin Australia had come in for some bad press over flight cancellations and disruptions but said that the issues that impacted the airline and its competitors were global and not confined to Australia.
